Modern food trends

New lifestyle on our plate The rhythms of life are becoming more intense every day, making it imperative to adjust our diet as well. We all now know the two trends that more and more people are following, vegetarianism and pure vegetarianism (vegan). But trends change as conditions change, affecting our health and lifestyle. What are the modern trends that make us change our eating habits?
The pandemic has played a key role in the shift towards healthy eating as we all try to shield our bodies. We pay close attention to product ingredients, which means we read the labels on the packages. Food with a “clean label”, i.e. those without the addition of preservatives and technical ingredients, without allergens, with natural raw materials, are gaining ground. The ones we would use in our kitchen that is for a healthy meal.
The tendency to consume snacks and ready meals is increasing, as a consequence of the modern lifestyle. Due to lack of time, we resort to “on the go” options such as snacks or ready meals that we can find everywhere. Ready frozen meals have become one of our first choices. Wanting to catch up with everything, work and obligations, we don’t have time to cook, so this trend will remain and become a way of life for those who spend long hours at work.
Omophagia a modern diet trend Veganism is another modern diet trend. It is based on the consumption of raw and unprocessed food and is considered to offer all the necessary elements of nature for the body that give energy and cover our needs in proteins, vitamins, trace elements and other substances. If we like fruit, nuts and olive oil, while we don’t prefer dairy, time to take the blender and the steamer out of the cupboards!
Finally, there are the “alternative” foods that we turn to in case of an allergy or intolerance, such as plant-based “dairy” and lactose-free products.
The trends are many and different. There is no trend that is more correct than the rest. We love food! What matters is what suits each of us, as we are all different, with different needs and preferences. To choose, therefore, which trend to follow, it is enough to try them. This way we will understand what suits us and, above all, what makes us happy!
