Carrot or carrot – what’s the difference?
Many also ask themselves: Is carrot and carrot is it the same or is there a difference? The answer is simple because there is no difference! Regardless of the fact that they are different words, the difference lies solely in the area in which you live: in the north they say carrot, in the south they say carrot. Both and, both mean the same orange vegetable.

Carrots last a long time if you keep a few things in mind:
- Put them in the fridge
- Wrap them in a damp cloth
- Don’t wash them until you eat them
- Don’t put them next to ripe fruit or vegetables either
Tips for preparing carrots
Carrots can be prepared in many ways:
- Cooking: Slice and then cook in salted water or broth for 10-15 minutes
- Steaming: Cook gently in the steamer insert
- Roast in the oven: Cut into sticks, season and bake for about 30 minutes, then you’ll have a great side dish for many

What can you eat with carrot soup?
The soup itself is really tasty, but like us, you’re probably wondering what you can eat with it:
- toasted bread,
- Lettuce,
- But also creme fraiche
- grilled vegetables
Our recipe for carrot soup with ginger
Now it’s getting tasty! You can buy all the ingredients in any supermarket. And the preparation is very easy. The soup will be on the table in 30 minutes and this is how it works:
Ingredients
- 1kg carrots
- 3 cm ginger (thumb-thick)
- 6 stalks of celery
- 3 bay leaves
- 4 potatoes
- 2 onions
- Water
- 1 tsp salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- To serve: parsley, roasted seeds and nuts

Preparation:
- Wash and chop all ingredients into small pieces.
- Put everything in a large pot and fill it with water. Add the salt.
- Cook the soup for 10 minutes over high heat, then turn the temperature down and let the soup simmer gently for another 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- While the soup is cooking, chop the parsley and cut some fresh ginger into small sticks to serve.
- Take two of the three bay leaves from the soup and puree everything (including the one bay leaf) very finely.
- To serve, garnish the soup with chopped parsley and a few lightly toasted nuts or seeds.

- To serve: Sprinkle some chopped parsley and a few lightly toasted nuts or seeds over the soup.
Notes
TIP 1 : Serve the soup with crème fraîche, toasted bread, salad or grilled vegetables.
TIP 2: Replace about half of the water with coconut milk for an Asian touch and swap the parsley for coriander.
TIP 3: Do you like it spicier? Then just add some chili to the soup. This is very tasty and goes harmoniously with the sweetness of the carrots.
