Sago cake with red bean paste. This dessert is perfect for gatherings of all sizes. It looks great. The sago grains are transparent and look like crystals. When paired with the red bean paste, it looks very sparkling and cute. Christine made mini sago cakes this time, one bite at a time. It was a happy and satisfying meal.

Steamed Tapioca Red Bean Cakes
Material:
  • Sago (tapioca pearls/sago) 200 grams
  • 85 grams of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 145g bean paste (canned or homemade)
How To Make Steamed Tapioca Red Bean Cakes
practice:
  1. Soak the sago in water for 1 hour, wash and drain, add sugar and olive oil, mix well and set aside.
  2. Use a muffin tray that is easy to clean and non-stick. Use a spoon to put the mixed sago into the bottom of the baking mold, about 1/3 of the height. Then add bean paste and spread it evenly. On top of the bean paste, spread another layer. Sago (as shown in the photo above), press on a flat surface.
  3. Put it in a wok and steam over high heat for 25 minutes. If all the sago is completely transparent, it is ripe.
  4. Use a small knife to gently wrap around the sago cake. Pick it up carefully and place it on a plate or in a small cake cup for easy eating.

Kind tips:

  • After mixing the sugar and oil, if you find that there is still water in the sago, don’t use that water. Otherwise, the steamed sago cake will become thin and not firm enough.
  • If you don’t use an easy-to-clean, non-stick mold, you must wipe it with oil. The sago is very sticky and difficult to release from the mold.
  • Put the sago cake in the cake paper, which looks better, but will stick to the paper. Simply put it on a plate and eat it with a fork.
  • Homemade bean paste, see this recipe attachedHow to make bean paste filling.
