I brought you the recipe for a wonderful strudel with apples fresh from Austria. I went to a yoga retreat in East Tyrol with 18 nice women. A very dear friend, who enjoys cooking and baking as much as I do, gave me a very simple, quick strudel recipe. It only has 3 ingredients and tastes delicious! I like strudel with apples best and so the recipe fits perfectly with our food blogger baking campaign “Apple, nut and almond kernel – autumn baking 2024”. The perfect strudel recipe

Until now I only knew my mother’s strudel dough with flour, egg and a little oil, I think it’s a classic recipe. My friend’s recipe only contains 3 ingredients in identical grammage: 250 g butter, 250 g quark, 250 g flour. And you can use it for both sweet strudel and savory strudel. The dough was easy to work with and tasted really great! Thank you Sonja for this brilliant recipe, I dedicate this post to you ♥️

Another advantage of this recipe is that it is easy to prepare. You can prepare the strudel the day before and then simply bake it fresh when guests come or the craving strikes. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of cream, this strudel becomes an absolute highlight on any table.

Apple strudel

Strudel with apples recipe

Preparation time 15 minutes plus 30 minutes baking time

Ingredients

250 g butter plus 50 grams

250 grams of quark

250 Flour*

3-4 apples (depending on size)

some cinnamon and sugar

powdered sugar*

  1. Knead the butter in pieces with the quark and flour.
  2. Peel the apples and cut them into small pieces. I sautéed them in a pan with butter and sprinkled them with cinnamon and sugar.
  3. Roll out the dough, spread the apples on top and roll into a strudel.
  4. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees, melt some butter and brush it on the strudel before baking. My friend says: Egg white works too. Bake on a baking sheet lined with baking paper for about 30 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with powdered sugar to serve. Of course it tastes great with vanilla sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
